Web Address:http://www.nctimes.com/news/world/article_e3e595e5-d8cf-500c-a4e
This article is about the Dalai Lama who was leading a prayer session for the Tibetans who immolated them selves protesting Chinese rule in Tibet. The Chinese Foreign Ministry does not like the Dalai Lama praying for people who set themselves on fire. They say he made it sound like a good thing to kill yourself. They don't like his religious ideas. In this article the are speaking out against it.
This connects to what we are studying in class because we are learning about the bill of rights and the Constitution. The bill of rights has 27 amendments. The fourth one is the freedom of religion. That means you can express your religion however and whenever. The Dalai Lama should have the right to believe in his own religion.
This connects to my life because I go to church and wouldn't want someone telling me I can't. I can believe it whatever religion I want because of the Constitution. I have that right because I was born in America. It would be bad to live some where other than America because the Constitution gave us many rights.
I believe everyone should have the freedom to believe what they want. If you don't have the freedom to believe in what you want, you would have to follow someone else. It would be sad and depressing. I may not agree with someone else. I want to have an opinion on God.
