This article is about a port in Oakland that shut down. It shut down because of the protesters. The police in Oakland said they are peaceful. No one has been arrested. They wanted to stop business in and out of the port.

This connects to what we are studying in class because we are learning about the bill of rights. The first amendment is the right to free speech. Also the right to assemble peacefully. That was what the people in the article were doing.

It can affect me as a citizen if I was ever in a group of people protesting. If it was for a good cause I would like to join it.That is why its important to have the Constitution. We are given that right.

In my opinion I think that we should never change this Amendment. It has a big part in our American society.It  keeps people safe while they are saying what they want.
